How Meralco Meter Reading and kWh Calculation Work
Meralco meters record electricity consumption in kilowatt-hours. For a standard reading, subtract the previous figure from the current figure, then apply the meter multiplier.
Electricity consumption = (Current reading − Previous reading) × Meter multiplier
For example, readings of 12,750 and 12,500 produce a difference of 250. With a multiplier of 1, consumption is 250 kWh.
Do not reverse the readings. The current reading should normally be higher. If it is lower, recheck the figures, meter details and whether the meter was replaced or reset before relying on the result.

The all-in rate is a simplified peso-per-kWh figure. An actual statement can contain generation, transmission, distribution, system-loss, taxes, subsidies, universal charges and other adjustments. Do not add a component again if it is already represented in the all-in rate.
How to Calculate a Meralco Bill Step by Step

Step 1: Calculate Electricity Consumption
(12,750 − 12,500) × 1 = 250 kWh
The household used 250 kWh during the billing period.
Step 2: Enter the Applicable All-In Rate
For a dated example, use the July 2026 overall residential rate of ₱14.8261 per kWh reported in Meralco’s July 2026 advisory.
This is not a permanent rate or a fixed 2026/27 tariff. Meralco’s overall rate can change monthly, so check your statement or the published information for the relevant month.
Step 3: Convert kWh to Pesos
250 kWh × ₱14.8261 = ₱3,706.525
The calculator rounds the displayed consumption-based amount to ₱3,706.53.
Step 4: Apply Extra Charges and Credits
₱3,706.525 + ₱0 − ₱0 = ₱3,706.525
The displayed estimated bill is therefore ₱3,706.53.
Step 5: Calculate Daily Averages
250 kWh ÷ 30 = 8.33 kWh per day
₱3,706.525 ÷ 30 = ₱123.55 per day
Daily averages help compare billing periods with different numbers of days, but they do not predict future usage.
How Much Does a Specific Number of kWh Cost?
A kWh-to-peso calculator applies the same formula to any consumption value:
Electricity cost = kWh consumed × applicable all-in rate per kWh
At the dated ₱14.8261 example rate, 50 kWh would be ₱741.305 before rounding, while 100 kWh would be ₱1,482.61. For 200 kWh, 223 kWh, 250 kWh or another amount, replace the consumption figure and multiply by the rate for the correct month.
