Step 1: Measure the Change in CPI

Subtract the starting CPI from the ending CPI:

125 − 100 = 25

25 ÷ 100 = 0.25

Convert the decimal into a percentage:

0.25 × 100 = 25%

Step 5: Understand Purchasing Power

If your available money remained at ₱10,000 while the CPI rose from 100 to 125, its purchasing power relative to the starting period would be:

₱10,000 × (100 ÷ 125) = ₱8,000

This means ₱10,000 at the ending CPI has purchasing power comparable to approximately ₱8,000 at the starting CPI.
